Three Ages

  (1923)
Using a trio of story lines and a common theme -- the timelessness of courtship -- Buster Keaton hilariously skewers romance. Keaton portrays a hapless suitor in three historic eras who vies for the girl against a stronger rival. In the Stone Age, Keaton faces a test of brute strength; in ancient Rome, he's challenged to a chariot race; and in the modern epoch, he's pitted against his adversary on the gridiron.
