Joe Don Baker stars as Buford Pusser, a man who tries to stand up to his town's problems with gambling, prostitution and bootleggers by becoming the sheriff in this drama based on the true story of a man who refused to turn a blind eye to corruption. Steadfast in his values, the Tennesee lawman becomes a target, and it becomes clear a badge isn't enough to stop the criminals -- for that, Buford needs to crack his 4-foot hickory club.
