Boxer Alain Lefevre (Jean-Claude Van Damme) double crosses a Marseilles mobster and attempts to escape to America with the mobster's girlfriend. But when the plan backfires, Alain instead joins the French Foreign Legion. In the legion, Alain and his fellow soldiers suffer abuses at the hands of an overbearing Lt. Steinkampf (Steven Berkoff) and the threat of Arab rebels in the sands of French Morocco.
