1981 NCAA Championship Game
(1981)|
Smarting from their defeat by North Carolina earlier in the season, coach Bobby Knight and the Hoosiers were itching for a rematch. Led by Isiah Thomas and Randy Wittman, Indiana overcame a slow start to triumph over the Tar Heels and garner their fourth NCAA championship. And this success almost didn't happen: The game wasn't played until critically injured President Ronald Reagan, shot earlier in the day, was given a positive prognosis.
