When future director-screenwriter Patrick Read Johnson (John Francis Daley) tries to see Star Wars in a theater on 5-25-77 -- opening day -- an adventure is set into motion in this coming-of-age, mostly autobiographical tale. A film junkie stuck in a small town, Johnson learns to follow his dreams after overcoming outlandish challenges that stand in his way to see the special effects-filled blockbuster that ultimately changes his life.
