Producer Robert Altman and director Alan Rudolph team up for this stylish dramedy about couples on the verge of complete fallout. Lucky (Nick Nolte) is a plumber married to an ex-movie star played by Julie Christie, who was nominated for an Oscar. Since their daughter left home, their marriage has nosedived. And it doesn't help that Lucky's sleeping with his client, Marianne (Lara Flynn Boyle), who's neglected by her husband (Jonny Lee Miller).
