American sub commander Ferraday (Rock Hudson) and his crew navigate dangerous waters in this Cold War nail-biter. Sent under false pretenses to the North Pole, Ferraday and his eclectic crew -- a Russian defector (Ernest Borgnine), a British secret agent (Patrick McGoohan) and a Marine captain (Jim Brown) -- are actually racing a Russian sub to retrieve top secret information. But there's a double agent among the crew, and time is running out.
