Germans invading Czechoslovakia on the eve of World War II capture top scientist Axel Bomasch (James Harcourt) and his beautiful daughter, Anna (Margaret Lockwood). But there's hope in the form of dashing British agent Gus Bennett (Rex Harrison) in this stylish spy thriller directed by Carol Reed. Bennett poses as a German officer and infiltrates the Nazi high command to effect a rescue. Paul Henreid co-stars.
