Courtney Love stars as Joan Vollmer, the second wife of beatnik writer William S. Burroughs (Kiefer Sutherland), in this biopic detailing the couple's doomed relationship and the marital tension brought on by the Naked Lunch writer's drug use and homosexual proclivity. The time the couple spent with other bohemians of the day is tragic and brilliant, culminating in Vollmer's involvement in a bizarre, William Tell-type stunt with her husband.
