Widely acclaimed and recognized in the land down under, this World War II documentary won Australia's first Oscar. Cameraman Damien Parer recorded Australian troops in action on the Kokoda Trail at the New Guinea front, bringing viewers an up-close look at a brutal battle in which the Japanese outnumbered Australians 5-to-1.
