Louis Malle co-directed this Oscar-winning documentary with famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau. The film follows Cousteau and his crew as they embark on an exploratory expedition to map the ocean floor using advanced sonar. Featuring stunning underwater photography, The Silent World also won the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival and a Best Foreign Film Award from the National Board of Review.
