Dinner at Eight
(1933)|
Director George Cukor takes Edna Ferber and George S. Kaufman's 1932 stage play and makes it his own in this witty film depicting a wily Park Avenue woman's (Billie Burke) attempts to successfully host a dinner party for members of the British high society. But she seems to have forgotten that the other invitees are almost as important as the guests of honor, and the gathering soon takes a bitingly disastrous but ultimately comic turn.
