Doofus Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney) can't quite make the grade in a demanding amateur basketball league. But just when Ernest is at his lowest, he's rescued from his slump by the "Basketball Angel" (NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). The Angel gives Ernest a pair of totally fly magic sneakers, and our improbable hoops star gives an all-star performance in a game against the Charlotte Hornets.
