Three Sisters

Anton Chekhov's melancholy classic about shattered dreams, self-delusion and the necessity of compromise resonates in this American Film Theatre presentation of the 1967 stage production directed by (and starring) Sir Laurence Olivier. Olivier plays army doctor Chebutykin, and Olivier's wife, Joan Plowright, portrays Masha, the snobbish general's daughter who tries to escape the boredom of her marriage by having an affair.
