After gang kingpin King David (DMX) is snuffed out, a reporter (David Arquette) who witnessed his murder investigates the circumstances leading up to his death by reading the dead man's journal. The journal is the deus ex machina that frames the film, which depicts King David's rise and eventual fall.This thriller is based on a novel by gangster and author Donald Goines, who wrote 16 pulp novels before being murdered himself.
