Headstrong Tara Maguire (Robin Wright Penn) shocks the local gentry in her Irish village by having a baby out of wedlock and refusing to name the father. As she struggles to retain her independence, Tara becomes the object of desire for two very different men. But when she makes her choice, the decision kindles a rage in the spurned suitor that erupts into violence. Aidan Quinn and Albert Finney play the romantic rivals.
