Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, this 1998 documentary explores the complexities of fraternity hazing, from the lengths people will go to in order to fit in with a group to the intense bond that initiation rituals create. Following a composite of different fraternities from rush through hell week, filmmakers Todd Phillips and Andrew Gurland participate themselves -- until Gurland ends up in the emergency room.
