Henry Levin's tale of a man on the brink stars Glenn Ford as Owen Devereaux, a former Civil War soldier forever scarred by his experiences on the battlefield. Unable to quiet his tormented soul, Devereaux kills, and his neighbors can no longer take his violent ways. His friend Del Stewart (William Holden) may hold the key to his salvation -- if he seeks forgiveness -- but Devereaux is too far gone and must be stopped at all costs.
