Lavish production values inform this TV adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic novel about life on the mean streets of 19th-century London. Young orphan Oliver (Alex Trench) joins a gang of young thieves, along with their leader, Fagin (Richard Dreyfuss), and the Artful Dodger (Elijah Wood). In time, Oliver attempts to free himself from his harsh life -- and the menacing presence of criminal Bill Sykes -- and find happiness.
