A Kind of Loving

After taking up with Ingrid Rothwell (June Ritchie), the cute typist at work, young Vic Brown (Alan Bates) finds himself pressured into a hasty wedding when Ingrid turns up pregnant in this well-acted drama helmed by John Schlesinger. A housing shortage forces them to move in with her domineering mother (Thora Hird), and when Ingrid suffers a miscarriage, the couple's already fragile union is put to the test.
