After the Civil War, a proud captain (Charlton Heston) returns to Texas to wed Lorna (Anne Baxter), the strong-willed woman of his dreams. But she harbors a dark secret about what exactly she did during the latter part of the war. As if that weren't problem enough, the couple faces abusive carpetbaggers who've come south to cash in on the former Confederates' misery. Co-stars Gilbert Roland, Tom Tryon and Forrest Tucker. Rudolph Mate directs.
