Blending desolation and anguish with an invincible spirit, director William Wellman's tense drama stars John Wayne as Capt. Dooley, a seasoned World War II transport pilot forced into an emergency landing in Labrador's frosty wasteland. Dooley and his four crewmen, who are ill-prepared for the situation, must combat the elements as they anxiously await rescue. Lloyd Nolan, James Arness and Andy Devine turn in first-rate supporting performances.
