Gulliver's Travels

  (1939)
This animated adaptation of Jonathan Swift's 18th-century satire tells the story of a shipwrecked sailor, Lemuel Gulliver, who washes ashore on the island of Lilliput. While the thumb-sized residents initially fear the giant (tying the unconscious Gulliver to the ground), they eventually find him quite useful. Gulliver, though homesick for England, begins to enjoy his new life as well in the first animated feature from a studio other than Disney.
