When it rains it pours -- or so it must seem to world-renowned concert violinist Stephanie Anderson (a Golden Globe-nominated Julie Andrews) as she succumbs to multiple sclerosis while her conductor husband (Alan Bates) cheats on her with a younger woman. If that weren't bad enough, her star pupil (Rupert Everett) is poised to abandon her. Max von Sydow plays the psychiatrist helping Stephanie cope with it all in this stylish tearjerker.
