My Man Godfrey

After exiling himself from polite society, erstwhile lawyer Godfrey Smith (David Niven) gets the chance to make good when an eccentric heiress (June Allyson) offers him a job as her household's butler. Turns out, with his polish, panache and impeccable manners -- not to mention copious common sense -- Godfrey is a godsend to the chaotic clan. Niven earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role in this remake of the 1936 comedy of the same name.
