Stories by acclaimed writers Irwin Shaw, Carson McCullers and Henry Miller form this trilogy of shorts exploring male-female relations. In "Return to Kansas City," a struggling boxer (Matt Dillon) tries to provide for his homesick wife (Kyra Sedgwick). "A Domestic Dilemma" finds a businessman (Ray Liotta) losing his wife (Andie MacDowell) to alcoholism. In "Mara," an American writer (Scott Glenn) in Paris takes in a prostitute (Juliette Binoche).
