Lt. Ted Stryker (Dana Andrews), still haunted by his experiences as a fighter pilot in World War II, is on a commercial flight when its crew becomes ill with food poisoning. Struggling with personal demons, Stryker must play the hero and bring the plane in safely. Linda Darnell, Sterling Hayden and Jerry Paris co-star in this disaster epic co-written by Arthur Hailey (Airport), spoofed 23 years later in Airplane!
