When peasant Tom Canty (Mark Lester) meets the Prince of Wales (also Lester), the two are dumbfounded by their resemblance and, on a lark, they trade places. But their prank has unforeseen consequences after the king unexpectedly passes away. This lavish adaptation of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper comes vividly to life thanks to an all-star cast that includes Charlton Heston, Rex Harrison, Oliver Reed and Raquel Welch.
