Traveling puppeteer Yukito Kunisaki plans to earn money at an upcoming summer festival in a seaside town. While there, he meets Misuzu Kamio, an odd girl. As the two become close, the mythical tale of Kanna, a girl with wings, parallels their story. Confined in a palace because of her powers, Kanna falls in love with her guardian, who tries to help her escape and fly to the mother she's never met in this fanciful anime series.
