Eddie Murphy stars as the fast-talking Scott Roper, an unorthodox hostage negotiator on the trail of the maniacal jewel thief (Michael Wincott) who killed his partner. But when Scott gets paired with a bright trainee (Michael Rapaport), the two men must work together to track the killer through the streets of San Francisco. Thomas Carter directs this action-packed "buddy movie" with fast-paced dialogue and memorable stunts.
