A scorching action thriller with Richard Gere as hard-edged Chicago cop Eddie Jillette, whose partner is savagely slain by a Cajun kingpin named Losado (Jeroen Krabbé). Eddie vows to get even, and his vendetta leads him to the Big Easy. To flush his quarry, Eddie spirits away Losado's sultry ladylove (Kim Basinger). Cop and captive flee into the bayou -- tailed by Losado and his goons -- and as the danger escalates, so does their mutual passion.
