Ling Choi Sin (Leslie Cheung), a scholar and tax collector, escapes from prison and befriends Taoist monk Chi Chau (Jacky Cheung). They soon meet Ching Fung (Joey Wang) and Yuet Chi (Michelle Reis) -- the daughters of a wrongly imprisoned man -- who are trying to save their father from certain death. As both women fall in love with Ling, the young foursome team up to battle the malevolent forces around them.
