When Max (David Schwimmer), a womanizing sportscaster, falls hard for Samantha (Mili Avital), a lovely book editor, he proposes to her after just two weeks. But as the wedding nears, Max panics and asks his best friend (Jason Lee) to test the relationship by asking Samantha out. Will all these shenanigans result in a marriage? And if so, whose?
