Helmed by famed Italian director Vittorio De Sica, this thoughtful drama follows browbeaten factory worker Clara Mataro (Florinda Bolkan), whose life takes a surprising turn when she contracts tuberculosis and is sent to a sanatorium in the mountains to recuperate. Leaving behind her insensitive husband (Renato Salvatori), three sons and her loathsome in-laws, Clara finds comfort and companionship at the clinic ... until she's pronounced cured.
