This 90-minute documentary recounts the history of blacks in film, from the industry's early days and big-screen classics such as Gone with the Wind (1939) to contemporary fare such as Waiting to Exhale (1995). The lives and cinematic achievements of numerous stars and directors are chronicled, and Sidney Poitier, James Earl Jones, Richard Pryor, Denzel Washington, Whoopi Goldberg and Spike Lee provide insightful commentary.
