With its spaghetti Western-style soundtrack, startling violence and gorgeous cinematography, this Takashi Nomura-directed yazuka thriller released in 1967 represents the apotheosis of Japanese studio Nikkatsu's reimagination of American noir films. Jo Shishido stars as a hired killer who knocks off a mob boss and finds himself smack-dab in the middle of a gang war. Jerry Fujio co-stars as the hit man's sidekick.
