Writer and critic James Agee won a Pulitzer Prize for his incisive and deeply felt novel, A Death in the Family, about one family coping with the sudden loss of its patriarch. In this adaptation (which originally aired on PBS), Annabeth Gish portrays the mother who attempts to pull her family and herself through this difficult period of grief. James Cromwell and John Slattery co-star. Gilbert Cates directs.
