A Dream of Passion

In director Jules Dassin's final collaboration with his wife, Melina Mercouri, she stars as Maya, an actress returning to the stage to play the title role in the Greek tragedy "Medea." To understand her murderous character, Maya strikes up a relationship with American Brenda Collins (Ellen Burstyn), who's in jail for killing her three children. The film interlaces two story threads as Maya becomes increasingly obsessed with Brenda's case.
