Pavlos (Dimitri Horn), a talented but unsuccessful writer, takes up residence in the neglected house of an impoverished widow on the sunny island of Hydra. The widow soon becomes the focus of a scandal, but Pavlos still falls for her timid daughter, Marina (Ellie Lambetti) -- even as local hostility threatens to tear them apart. This drama from director Michael Cacoyannis brought international attention to the Greek film industry.
