In this valentine to his golden retrievers, director Bruce Weber dishes up a collage of his passions structured as a series of missives to his dog True. Interlaced in the homage are canine-related yarns about actors Dirk Bogarde and Elizabeth Taylor. Also included (among other things) are poetry readings by Julie Christie and singer Marianne Faithfull; an aside about Haitian refugees; and a passage from a Martin Luther King Jr. speech.
