Actor-filmmaker Eiji Okuda directs this heartbreaking tale that centers on the unlikely friendship that develops between broken-down widower Matsuo Yasuda (Ken Ogata) and lonely 5-year-old Sachi (Hana Sugiura). Fed up at the neglect and abuse Sachi is subjected to at the hands of her parents, Yasuda liberates the youngster from her bleak surroundings and ushers her on a long road trip filled with surprises and revelations.
