A Man and a Woman

  (1966)
Un Homme et Une Femme
Anouk Aimée stars as a widowed "script girl," and Jean-Louis Trintignant plays a racer who lost his wife to suicide, in this study of moments between the time the two characters meet and the point at which they begin to read each other intuitively. French new-wave filmmaker Claude Lelouch weighs in with this jumpy, impressionistic take on the expectations of romance. Nominated for four Oscars, the film won for Best Foreign Film and Best Screenplay.
