Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins delivers again with his taut, intelligent portrayal of a man caught in a web of lies, seduction, moral deception and, ultimately, murder. John Strickland (Hopkins) feels trapped in both a marriage and a career that no longer fulfill him. He starts having an affair with a rich, beautiful and politically connected young woman --- a move that sets into motion forces that will shatter his world.
