Art not only imitates life but betters it in this meditative docudrama about Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf, who at the age of 17 was jailed for two years for inadvertently stabbing a policeman in the middle of a quarrel. Still haunted by his past, the filmmaker decides to find the officer and offer him a formal apology as a way to make peace with his younger self and move on with a clear conscience.
