In a desolate Argentine valley, idealist Mario (Federico Luppi) and his wife (Cecilia Roth) work tirelessly to improve the lives of peasants -- whose homes and livelihoods may be jeopardized if unscrupulous industrialists opt to build a hydroelectric dam nearby. Director Adolfo Aristarain's finely crafted drama is told through the eyes of the couple's adolescent son (Gaston Batyi), a shy and sensitive boy about to experience his first romance.
