Krzysztof Kieslowski tracks the trajectory of obsession in this drama about a young man, Tomek (Olaf Lubaszenko), who's fixated on his neighbor, Magda (Grazyna Szapolowska). He spies on her and peeks at her mail, until he feels so guilty that he reveals to her what he's been doing. Magda is shocked, but she soon succumbs to Tomek's advances, which sends him reeling. His dream, apparently, has become a nightmare.
