A Walk in the Sun

Director Lewis Milestone opts for realism in his unflinching look at combat in World War II Italy. Dana Andrews stars as Sgt. Bill Tyne, who leads his platoon through the countryside on a march -- punctuated by sporadic skirmishes -- to capture a Nazi-held farmhouse. Between hostilities, the men forge a deep bond as they come to grips with war's capriciousness. The strong, all-male cast includes Richard Conte, John Ireland and Lloyd Bridges.
