A family of strong-willed and courageous women struggle to overcome personal and political prejudice over the course of several generations in this heartfelt miniseries inspired by a novel by Susan Richards Shreve. The saga begins in 1894 with Annie Jermaine (Reiko Aylesworth), a 19-year-old immigrant who finds work as a maid and overcomes countless obstacles to train as a nurse.
