Teenage Fausto (Ken Higelin) enters an orphanage and becomes a punching bag for the resident bullies. But he soon makes friends with a new bunkmate and becomes apprenticed to a tailor in the Jewish quarter. Fausto learns the trade and charms everyone in the quarter. He starts making outrageously distinctive suits just for the fun of it and before long decides to be a famous couturier.
