Inspired by real events, this 2007 biopic profiles occultist Aleister Crowley, whose philosophy of unfettered experimentation with sex and drugs led him to set up a controversial commune based on the tenets of free will and the pursuit of knowledge. The film recounts the life of Crowley (Mike Ketcher) chapter by chapter, from his stint as a New York City painter to the 1920 founding of the Abbey of Thelema in Sicily to his eventual downfall.
